It's been too long since the Fifth Avenue B&N book signing, but luckily, we have these videos courtesy of Joselin's friend Gabe to remember it by.
Ah, now I remember what I wanted to say about it! Such a fun event. Joselin and I realized the day of the signing that we were expected to actually speak in front of everyone (not just sign our names and chat with people like we did at BEA) so we prepared a few passages to read. Yes, we did it about a half hour before the signing, but I think we chose well. One was from our "Boundaries, Respect and Privacy" chapter and the other was on handling sticky questions like "When are you getting married?" Both, I think, are topics people want to know about--and what makes our book unique.
So anyhow, there we were at the Barnes and Noble--the first ever B&N, I might add--and it was 6:00, the scheduled time for the book signing and we only had three people in the crowd. Even though I knew at least 10 of my friends told me they were coming, I was still a little freaked out, visualizing myself standing at the podium with three people sitting there yawning and staring at me. Kinda like the public speaking in your underwear nightmare. We stalled a bit, then once we got started talking, more and more people gathered. And actually, so many came that the B&N staffers kept bringing out more chairs to accomodate everyone. It was so exciting!
Plus, we sold out all their books except for three copies, which we autographed for the store. (So if you want a signed copy, you may be able to find one. Fifth Ave and 18th Street.) We even got complimented by the manager about what a great turnout we had. Thank you to everyone who attended! We had a fun afterparty too, once we corraled everyone to a local bar that wasn't pumping dance music or using strobe lights at 7:00 on a weekday, like the first one was. Note to self, next time better scope out the afterparty venue beforehand. Oh and there were cupcakes too. Extra thanks to whoever made those!
Next stop? Ohio. Look out Columbus because on Aug. 4, we'll be appearing on Good Day Columbus on Fox between 7 and 9 AM. Then, there will be another signing/reading that night at:
The University Barnes and Noble

Please tune in--and stop by!
